The IEC TC72 working group meeting was held in Copenhagen, Denmark from May 6 to 8, 2025. Authoritative experts from the global electrical field gathered together to conduct in-depth discussions on the construction of international electrical standardization in the information age.
As an expert of IEC TC72 WG13 Intelligent Controller Working Group, Chen Qifei, who is also the Standardization Director and Deputy General Manager of Beijing Sanzen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to attend the meeting. She focused on the issue of AI intelligent HVAC control system standard formulation, put forward constructive ideas from a professional perspective, and conducted multi-dimensional discussions and exchanges with industry colleagues, injecting new impetus into promoting standardization construction in this field.
Given that the current IEC international standard system has significant coverage blind spots in emerging technology fields, especially in cutting-edge technology directions such as artificial intelligence. At the same time, in the context of global sustainable development and digital transformation, energy-saving and low-carbon technology innovation, human-machine adaptability optimization of electric automatic control systems, in-depth application expansion of Internet of Things technology, and strengthened construction of network security protection systems have become important areas that urgently need attention and regulation.
Based on the above background, during the meeting, Chen Qifei gave a special report on the theme of “HVAC Control Systems with Intelligent Management Capabilities – Requirements and Test Methods”, and proposed the establishment of a new international standard for air-conditioning control systems with AI algorithms. This initiative sorted out the technological evolution of HVAC control systems, analyzed the inevitable industry trend of improving energy efficiency, and combined with market dynamics to point out the current technical bottlenecks and solutions, and clarified the core positioning of technical specifications and their connection with existing standards. It comprehensively presented the technical overview of intelligent HVAC control systems, and focused on the establishment of an AI intelligent control security framework, providing detailed technical support for the formulation of industry standards.
Chen Qifei’s professional sharing triggered extensive discussions among the experts present. As a working group expert of TC72, Chen Qifei actively conveyed Chinese wisdom and industry propositions in this meeting and conducted in-depth exchanges with experts from various countries. She emphasized that in the future, she will fully integrate her own professional and technical resources, deeply integrate international cutting-edge concepts and innovative achievements, and promote their practical application in specific projects to accelerate the innovation process of artificial intelligence technology and promote the efficient implementation and improvement of relevant standard systems.
Finally, the conference clarified the future direction of standardization work – a new standard system will be built for cutting-edge technologies such as AI and the Internet of Things to provide precise guidance for corporate production and build a solid safety barrier for users. At the same time, it will promote the global electrical industry to move towards intelligence and greenness at an accelerated pace, and help the high-quality development of a low-carbon economy.
